Base designed and built this unique fit out for one of Queensland most established and well known organisations. The fit out brings the client company, which was established in 1865, well and truly into the modern era. The layout and design which encourages innovation, collaboration and new ways of working, is supported by the aesthetic, which is one of contemporary nostalgia. The materials, colour palette and details while modern and industrial, reflect the branding and allude to the heritage of the client. The reorganised and reimagined interior provides the user with a variety of appealing and functional spaces that have been well received and utilised by staff and visitors alike. Striking features and strong elements such as an exposed ceiling and bold feature colours are carefully balanced and softened by the use of greenery and sheer curtains which add to the atmosphere of the fit out and create additional privacy for its occupants. A varied palette of flooring – concrete,  timber planks and bespoke carpet – is used to delineate the different areas and create further zones within. Linear lighting is cleverly used, suspended below the exposed ceiling for wayfinding as users navigate the space. Wall panelling is both visual and functional, with unique fluted acoustic material applied to the larger meeting areas and small quiet rooms to enhance the auditory privacy of these spaces. Additional details such as feature lighting, signage and carefully curated furniture provide the finishing touches for an interior fit out that delights the user and is as beautiful as it is functional.
