Base was delighted to design and build the new headspace centre in Hurstville, Sydney for our long standing and valued client, Stride.  The planning was informed by the headspace requirements and the attributes of the space. Optimising the natural light and the feeling of space was key. The design brief from staff and the engaged and enthusiastic youth advisory group was to create a centre that is bright, fun, funky, youthful and welcoming. The design aims to achieve this through an aesthetic that is contemporary, urban, industrial and eclectic offering the user with an appealing and interesting yet cohesive choice of materials, textures and forms.  The wonderfully culturally diverse community is also considered through the naming of rooms (for capital cities throughout the world) and the creation of a graphic mural with global salutations. The overall effect is a centre that is brimming with life and spaces that are inviting, appealing and engaging for all those who use them - staff and visitors alike.
